Marriage procession allowed in Odisha September Onwards

Since the times of covid, crowd gatherings like marriages, birthday parties, business events, etc were put on hold by the local governments.

As the cases per day are seen on a decline than usual, the Odisha government allows marriage processions from September.

We quote-

“Marriage processions shall be allowed with due prior written approval from competent authorities subject to the ceiling 250 participants including the bridegroom, priest, friends, relatives, guests, members of a band party, light & sound systems, etc, and 50 persons are allowed for sobhajatra ” the SRC letter read.

Guidelines to be followed are –

  1. Whatever the situation be, the number of participants under the ceiling should not exceed more than what is stated.
  2. However, for closed spaces, this number would be subjective to what is feasible to follow Covid protocols.
  3. For open spaces, the size of the open space or ground would be kept in mind and an appropriate number of persons will be allowed, subject to the above ceilings. Social distancing is to be ensured as prescribed physical distancing norms.
  4. Ceremonies like thread ceremony/ bratopanayana and related rituals shall be followed as per the Government guidelines released via the Revenue and Disaster Management (DM) Department letter on May 18, 2021.
